New NIR cameras with Gigabit Ethernet interface ( 5 May 2009)

With the new monochrome MV1-D1312-40-GB and MV1-D1312I-40-GB cameras, with Gigabit Ethernet interface, Photonfocus is introducing two new CMOS cameras, based on the newly developed 3rd Generation CMOS imagers A1312 and A1312I from Photonfocus. The new CMOS imager A1312I was specially developed for NIR (Near Infra Red) applications up to 1100nm. The MV1-D1312(I) cameras provide a high dynamic range of up to 120dB with the well known LinLog® technology patented by Photonfocus. The new MV1-D1312(I)-40-GB cameras deliver 27fps @ full resolution of 1312 by 1082 pixel. A major benefit of the new camera is the possibility to further increase the speed to thousands of frames per second by reducing the ROI – Region of Interest – through horizontal and vertical windowing. The spectral range of the new A1312I CMOS sensor has an extended spectral range covering 350nm to 1100nm. Besides the overall excellent image quality it’s worth pointing out the remarkably high Near Infra Red (NIR) responsivity (Quantum Efficiency ca. 30% at 1000nm). A fast global shutter enables sharp and smear free images even at high frame rates. The new camera is equipped with all standard features needed for common applications whilst offering an outstanding image quality.

New Pixel Professor™ camera with on-camera image pre-processing (19 Dec 2008)

The new Pixel Professor™ camera MV-D1024E-PP01-40-CL from Photonfocus is aimed at all customers who need real time image pre-processing on the camera. With in-built image pre-processing hardware (FPGA) in the camera reliance on specialised frame grabbers or other hardware accelerators is removed. Another major advantage of performing image pre-processing on the camera results in a dramatic reduction of the vision system computer CPU load. As a consequence the vision system can run faster or use more sophisticated algorithms in the same time period producing better results.
The new Pixel Professor™ camera is aimed at all Machine Vision users, even the ones not having any knowledge about how to program FPGAs. For this Photonfocus offers their clients the Pixel Professor™ Lab, a graphical user interface (GUI) that allows any user to set up his image pre-processing operators with just a few mouse clicks on the computer. Customers wanting to implement their own image pre-processing algorithms on the camera’s FPGA should contact Photonfocus in order to further discuss this possibility.

New CMOS camera with new image sensor from Photonfocus (27 Nov 2008)

With the new monochrome MV1-D1312-160 camera, with CameraLink® interface, Photonfocus introduces its second camera of a new series, based on the newly developed 3rd Generation CMOS imager A1312-160 from Photonfocus. The MV1-D1312-160 provides a high dynamic range of up to 120dB with the well known LinLog® technology patented by Photonfocus. The new MV1-D1312-160 camera delivers 110fps @ full resolution of 1312 by 1082 pixel. A major benefit of the new camera is the possibility to further increase the speed to thousands of frames per second by reducing the ROI – Region of Interest – through horizontal and vertical windowing. The spectral range of the new CMOS camera has an extended spectral range covering 350nm to 1000nm. Besides the overall excellent image quality it’s worth pointing out the remarkably high Near Infra Red (NIR) responsivity. A fast global shutter enables sharp and smear free images even at high frame rates. The new camera is equipped with all standard features needed for common applications whilst offering an outstanding image quality.

NEW 1.4 MP CMOS camera with new image sensor from Photonfocus (29 Oct 2008)

With the new monochrome DS1-D1312-160 camera, with CameraLink® interface, Photonfocus introduces its first camera of a new series, based on the newly developed 3rd Generation CMOS imager A1312-160 from Photonfocus. The new camera is equipped with all standard features needed for common applications whilst offering an outstanding image quality. The new DS1-D1312-160 camera delivers 110fps @ full resolution. A major benefit of the new camera is the possibility to further increase the speed to thousands of frames per second by reducing the ROI – Region of Interest – through horizontal and vertical windowing. Customers requiring sharp and smear free images even with high frame rates will be pleased with the fast global shutter of the new DS1-D1312-160 camera developed by Photonfocus. The new DS1-D1312-160 CMOS camera is able to start capturing a new image whilst outputting the current image, thus maximising the available exposure time and/or frame rate. Not using a cover glass on the new A1312 Sensors, and with it in the new DS1-D1312-160 CMOS camera, makes it possible to reduce the number of elements in the optical path. This leads to a maximisation of the sensitivity, whilst avoiding internal reflections and associated image artefacts.

NEW PHOTONFOCUS GENERATION: CMOS SENSOR A1312 (18 Sep 2008)

With the A1312 series Photonfocus is introducing the first CMOS sensors of the 3rd generation into the market. The A1312 series is fabricated in a 0.35µm technology optimized for image sensors, thereby reaching outstanding sensitivity and quantum efficiency over a spectral range covering 350nm to 1000nm. The special pixel design offers superior sensitivity particularly in the NIR range around 850nm. The resolution of the new sensors is 1312 x 1082 pixels, with 8µm x 8µm square pixels and over 60% fill factor. All sensors are equipped with a very fast global shutter. The patented LinLog® technology enables a very high dynamic range of up to 120dB combined with high speed. The fastest version of the sensor delivers 110fps @ full resolution. The frame rate can be further increased by a flexible ROI or MROIs, which profit from vertical as well as horizontal windowing to achieve thousands of frames per second.

NEW 3D CAMERA FOR LASER TRIANGULATION APPLICATIONS MV-D1024E-3D01-160-CL ( 2 Sep 2008)

With the MV-D1024E-3D01-160 camera Photonfocus is able to present to you a camera which is optimized for 3D laser triangulation applications. The new camera incorporates the Photonfocus proprietary CMOS A1024 Sensor with the well known LinLog® technology patented by Photonfocus. The high dynamic linear-logarithmic response camera from Photonfocus offers many significant advantages over linear-response cameras when it comes to laser triangulation applications. Photonfocus has implemented a newly developed algorithm, called Peak Detector, for an accurate and robust laser line detection in the FPGA of the new 3D camera. The Peak Detector offers a superior sub-pixel accuracy over the most commonly used laser line detection algorithms, e.g. COG (Center of Gravity), used in commercially available 3D cameras. All these advantages make the Peak Detector a very accurate and robust laser line detection solution.
