For greater food safety: quality control with embedded vision

Nut shells in muesli, grit in wholegrain bread or rotting fruit and vegetables: Impurities and damage like this need to be detected and removed at an early stage of production, before they end up in the packaging or the consumer’s kitchen. Embedded vision systems from Photonfocus take care of this. They can be integrated into the production line as a fully automatic solution, or perform quality control as standalone applications with onboard data processing. 

Solutions with hyperspectral imaging and SWIR technology are particularly well-suited for this. This high-resolution image data enables the detection of contamination through foreign bodies, damage, fungi and spores that cannot be seen with the naked eye or using conventional images with visible light. Separating damaged or afflicted foods from unaffected goods at an early stage ensures higher product quality and longer storage times.
