New Cameras for Hyperspectral Imaging

July 2016

Photonfocus broaden the portfolio with a new camera for hyperspectral imaging. With this enlargement Photonfocus pays attention to the rapid grow of the numbers of customers which like to evaluate hyperspectral imaging technologies.

The camera MV1-D2048x1088-HS03-96-G2 implements a hyperspectral area sensor with a 4x4 pixel pattern in the visible range. The spectral range from 470nm to 620nm is covered in 10nm steps with a filter half width of 15nm. For applications in the NIR the existing camera product MV1-D2048x1088-HS02-96-G2 with a 5x5 pattern could be used in the range from 600nm to 975nm.

The hyperspectral line scan camera MV1-D2048x1088-HS04-96-G2 is in preparation. This new model will cover in comparison to the already introduced line scan camera MV1-D2048x1088-HS01-96-G2 also the visible spectral range. Between 470nm and 900nm 150 filter bands could be used for spectral analysis.

The focus of the hyperspectral camera series based on the IMEC HSI sensors lies on the evaluation of this new technology. To ease system integration, the cameras were equipped with GigE interface. The shaft encoder interface allows a precise synchronization of the cameras with the motion of the objects. This is a basic requirement to use the line scan hyperspectral cameras in evaluation systems.

For higher frame rates the camera models could be equipped with high speed interfaces based on the Photonfocus camera platforms. In addition, the OEM module versions of the hyperspectral cameras enable embedded solutions.
