Material Processing

Material Processing

Fully automated sorting processes save the use of humans for monotonous and tedious activities. Photonfocus sensors are highly reliable when it comes to deciding which foods can be resold or which are spoiled, or separating waste into glass, plastic, metal or other materials.

Application examples

Measuring tasks

Embedded vision systems measure materials, semi-finished products, profiles and finished parts, thereby allowing conclusions to be drawn regarding the material properties and quality. The modular sensors from Photonfocus with onboard decision-making can easily be integrated in existing plants or can be used as application-specific standalone solutions.

Surface inspection

Surface inspection systems in material processing are having to meet increasing quality demands. Deviations in the structure and surface of wood, steel or plastic, material defects and other issues must be detected quickly and reliably. This is where the strengths of our embedded vision systems come into play: They create images with the highest level of detail and deliver instant results thanks to onboard interpretation.

Sorting

Detecting different material types, classifying substances by size, weight or volume and sorting them for further processing are among the classic tasks for embedded vision systems. In order to do this with maximum precision and reliability, we develope solutions that combine image acquisition in 2D and 3D as well as hyperspectral images. The generated data can then be evaluated locally and onboard.
